In the Christmas Spirit with P. Allen Smith and Berry Family of Nurseries

If you asked a hundred people what the Christmas season is to them, you'd probably get a thousand different answers. If you asked me, the scent of a freshly cut evergreen would be near the top of the list. I grew up with a trees from my father's church tree lot, and have continued that tradition with my own family. It's simply not Christmas without the aroma of pine, fir (my personal favorite) or spruce filling our living room.

This Christmas, our holiday decor was brightened by a special delivery from P. Allen Smith and Berry Family of Nurseries. The mantelpiece (part of the P. Allen Smith Holiday Collection at Home Depot) is a beautiful combination of fresh noble fir, pine cones, artificial berries and chocolate brown ribbon. The second I opened the box, the scent instantly transported me to the holiday.

I used the mantelpiece as the center of our fireplace holiday decor, surrounding it with my wife's collection of Santas, a live poinsettia, candles, a few Georgia pine cones, and -- of course --  my son's stocking hung with care. A string of white lights gave it the perfect ambiance.

In order to spread the Christmas spirit even further, the fine folks at P. Allen Smith and Berry Family of Nurseries would like to send an entire collection of fresh Christmas decor to a non-profit organization. There are several bloggers across the country who have chosen non-profits, and the blogger with the most interaction with their post on Pinterest will earn the special delivery for their organization.

So I need your help. First, I need to you comment below and help me choose a non-profit or other charity organization that would really benefit from the collection of fresh greens. Leave the organization's story below and I'll chose the one that fills me with the most holiday spirit. Second, I need you to comment on and repin this post on Pinterest as much as possible!

  1. What a lovely idea. Your photos are inspirational. Lovely and festive!
Good luck with the competition! I'd offer a non-profit, but I'm in Canada. However, if asked, I'd suggest Habitat for Humanity.
    Merry Christmas!
