The Fruit of Chokeberry 'Brilliantisima'

Aronia arbutifolia 'Brilliantisima' (Chokeberry)

When I planted a Chokeberry last fall, I knew it would be one of the stars of the driveway border this autumn. It's been a dependable, attractive shrub all summer after a showy bloom of pinkish-white flowers in late spring. As we play out the last official days of summer, the fruit of 'Brilliantisima' have turned an eye-catching red up and down the length of its branches. I'm looking forward to the dark red hues of its foliage as the garden continues the walk towards fall.
